Reigning Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season.
The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.
A Year of Dominance
Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.
The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the world number one, ending 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Record-Breaking Numbers
Sabalenka finished the season with a 63-12 match record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She earned nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".
Other WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, received the award after taking a 13-month break following the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
- Newcomer of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
- Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after securing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
