Revitalized Medvedev Wins Maiden Trophy in Over Two Years

Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after March of that year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour victory, took control to force a final set.

The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
