The England manager Criticizes Home Crowd Support Despite Emphatic Wales Victory.

Thomas Tuchel expressed his regret that the England team did not enjoy greater support from the home fans during their decisive triumph over Wales on Thursday evening.

The manager was satisfied to see his side continue their winning momentum, with finishes from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the opening quarter settling the game. But, he was unhappy with the energy at the national stadium.

“With limited training days to prepare against a well-trained team and we excelled,” Tuchel commented. “It could have been five goals ahead at half-time. We missed the fourth and fifth ones. There was little noise. We didn’t get any energy from the stands. We did everything to win.”

“What more can you give in 20 minutes? We didn’t let them get away. When you only hear just Wales fans for half an hour, it’s sad because the squad earned better encouragement today.”

“I stand by this statement. We cannot do more than being three goals up in a derby. I hoped for a bit more backing in moments where it gets difficult.”

“After halftime, to cheer us on, there was excessive support for Wales. It could have helped us to recharge, but that’s football and that is it.”

Squad Decisions Vindicated by Performance

Away from risking a fight with fans, the manager also raised eyebrows by omitting Bellingham and Phil Foden from his squad. However the move was backed up by Rogers delivering another standout performance in the No 10 position and scoring his maiden goal for his country.

“He is what he is,” Tuchel explained. “He is a No 10 and he is fighting for his spot.”

Wales Manager Hopes for Lessons from Defeat

Craig Bellamy hopes that Wales, who host Belgium in a key qualifying match on Monday, learn from their disappointing performance in the opening period.

“This is why I scheduled this friendly,” Bellamy stated. “I wanted to assess where we are. What are our ambitions? Who do we want to be? Today fills me with drive.”

Injury Concern for Striker

Ollie Watkins was withdrawn at half-time after hitting a post and will be a doubt when England face Latvia in the Latvian capital in a qualifier on Tuesday.
