The Film 'Together' Can Be Streamed, and It Has the Power to Test Your Partnership.

We present a dare for partners in committed relationships who enjoy the horror genre: Get comfortable with your partner and view Together. The independent film success of 2025 recently had its launch on a streaming platform on the Hulu service. Outwardly, it may seem like standard physical horror, but beneath Together exists a deep meditation about our choices in loving each other.

An Introductory Film Delving into Relationship Dynamics

Together represents the debut feature-length film for director Michael Shanks. It features actors Alison Brie and Dave Franco as Tim and Millie, partners that have remained a couple for over ten years. United in marriage in reality in 2017, the actors contribute a special spark to their roles, masterfully depicting both the good and bad of a committed partnership.

The plot commences when Millie and Tim transition from the urban environment to the country for Millie’s job. A familiar story element, sure, but that’s mostly where the tropes end. Together evolves into as much a psychological exploration of the couple's dynamic as it is a movie featuring biological frights.

An Otherworldly Trigger

While walking near their country house, a tempest descends, and the protagonists fall into an hole in the earth. After being trapped overnight there and eventually escaping, a supernatural entity starts to affect the pair. This force compels a paranormal intimacy between them that goes exceeding simple connection.

The entire film is a slow burn of scares, interspersing moments of fever-dream horrors, unsettling (but tastefully done) biological grotesqueries, and genuinely funny exchanges (sometimes amidst something disturbing). Michael Shanks skillfully blends these components expertly and presents them in a gradually swelling sense of impending doom.

Nuanced Portrayals

A significant portion of Together is exclusively the two lead actors, and they masterfully render manifold depths to the partnership at the film's core. Millie’s confidence and emotional bond is suffering due to a lack of intimacy. Her unspoken irritation of Tim for his unwillingness to chase only his struggling artistic pursuits slowly bubbles to the surface.

Conversely, Tim experiences isolation and separated by Millie, who’s the impetus they’ve moved to the country and removed from his social circle. He is terrified of the concept of totally forfeiting his sense of self in Millie. This fear is intensified by the circumstance he lacks a driver's license and relies on Millie for getting around.

The film's most intelligent aspect is that he avoids making Tim or Millie the obvious villain.

Tim and Millie confront the type of challenges that are inherent in any relationship over a long period. At their core, they still love each other. They share moments of joy, offer support, and are vulnerable at times. But under the surface, there’s an persistent feeling of questioning about their future together.

Thematic Depth

While the otherworldly presence in Together act as a metaphor for these concerns of excessive reliance and giving oneself over to another person, the symbolism does not come across as overly obvious or pretentious. Instead, these ickier, creepier moments offer a brilliant analogue to the character-driven drama. Both the supernatural and the personal enhance each other symbiotically.

A Debated Finale

Together’s conclusion, which won’t be spoiled here, has sparked debate on the movie's final takeaway about unhealthy partnerships. Accounts suggest that unattached audience members have interpreted the film as a compelling reason for staying single. On the other hand, certain partners experiencing tension found that the film ultimately assisted them make up.

If you are alone or with a partner, your own response could potentially serve as a revealing measure of how you think about commitment. Will the ending plant feelings of uneasiness and dread, or a heartwarming sense of hope? Will you recognize your own traits in one of the characters and scream at your TV, or simply look at your other half and state, “I understand that choice”?

Whatever the case may be, Together is an exploration you can undertake at this very moment.

Together is streaming on Hulu's platform as of this moment.
