Every organization head would say managing a major entity isn't just standard office hours.

Incoming Women's Tennis Association (WTA) chair Valerie Camillo understands dedicated effort from past positions - including one in a strategic role of the entertainment company managing American iconic singer Dolly Parton's tourist attractions.

In addition to her input regarding Parton's business interests, Camillo steps into the leadership of women's tennis with a wealth of experience in sports and media, previously occupying strategic positions at the top professional basketball organization, major league hockey and Major League Baseball (MLB).

Camillo will begin her leadership position at the WTA next month, replacing the long-serving Steve Simon, whose 10-year tenure is ending with his retirement.

Leadership approved a three-year deal with the Saudis - providing unprecedented rewards worth millions this year - meaning Camillo must guide the discussion regarding future in coming years.

The Saudi investment additionally gives a significant boost toward organizational aims ensuring equal compensation during joint Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and WTA events within three years and additional significant competitions by 2033.

The possibility of the WTA merging business interests with the ATP remains under consideration, as both organizations clearly seeing the need for greater alignment around broadcast, information and partnership agreements.

Today's divided situation regularly leaves supporters and backers confused and disillusioned.

Notably, the leadership for both tours faced opposition in a lawsuit by athlete representatives, that has questioned both organizations for neglecting the interest of its stars.

The WTA knows the clear benefit of collaborating with the wealthier men's tour, but Camillo will not want the women's circuit losing influence during important talks and promotional activities as a result.

Addressing worries regarding calendar and athlete exhaustion remains high on Camillo's agenda.

The new leader's knowledge regarding business complexity within major leagues - notably approaches to supporter base development and secure funding via creativity - is seen as a significant element for choosing her.

Joining women's tennis comes at "a moment of accelerated growth and opportunity", says the WTA.

This is the moment across women's competitions. Financial returns throughout female athletics in the past year topped $1bn (£754m) and market researchers anticipate it will hit $2.5bn (£1.8bn) by 2030.

Camillo's mission involves securing the tour and top players - headed by Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek - secure substantial portion of the expanding market.

"We have the most prominent female athletes in the world and occupy a privileged spot within the industry," the new chair stated.

"In women's competitions, investment, audiences and media engagement are increasing exponentially.

"For most part obstacles for women's competitions involves establishing recognition, gaining audience and engagement," stated the chair.

"Our situation varies somewhat - with over five decades of history, possessing remarkable tradition, extensive international reach, and including highly visible, best-rewarded players worldwide."
